Happy Salmon is a fast-paced, energetic card game that was designed for party settings and encourages physical interaction among players. It is a highly engaging and lighthearted game suitable for all ages.
The objective of Happy Salmon is for each player to get rid of all of their cards before anyone else. The game can be played with 3 to 6 players and typically lasts around 5-10 minutes. It is played using a deck of 72 cards, with each card depicting one of four actions: "High 5", "Pound It", "Switcheroo", and "Happy Salmon". Each player starts with a hand of 12 cards, and the game begins simultaneously for everyone.
Players must actively seek out other players who have the same action card as them and perform that action together. For example, if you have a "High 5" card, you must find another player with the same card and give them a high five. Once both players have successfully completed the action, they can discard their matched cards. The game continues in a frenzy as players continuously look for matches and discard their cards until someone gets rid of all their cards, winning the game.
Happy Salmon is a highly collaborative game that promotes social interaction and teamwork. Although players compete to be the first to discard all their cards, it does not have any antagonistic elements. It fosters a lighthearted and inclusive atmosphere where the emphasis is on quick thinking, communication, and active participation rather than defeating opponents.
